INTRODUCING MELLE CLOCHE: Our fabulous Glasgow stockist
Melle Cloche is home to a gorgeous selection of UNBRIDLED STUDIO pieces. As well as being our exclusive Scottish stockist, they are a haven for the modern bride. We spoke to Lisa and Jacs, the inspirational women behind Melle Cloche to hear more about their ethos and the story behind their contemporary Glasgow bridal boutique.
What inspired you to open Melle Cloche?
Melle Cloche actually began as a bit of a leap of faith between Jac and me. Back in 2010 I was working in my husband’s design agency, while Jac was living in Monaco through her husband’s job (very glam I know!). They were planning to move back to Scotland once her kids finished primary school there, so we suddenly had this window where starting something together felt possible.
Jac’s time in the South of France definitely inspired us - I was travelling there often, and we spent a lot of time exploring vintage markets so the French influence naturally filtered through and helped give Melle Cloche its early identity.
We didn’t start with dresses - our original idea was an accessories boutique for brides and our tagline was “everything but the dress.” At the time there were so many small, independent designers creating beautiful accessories and we loved the idea of helping brides pull their whole look together with those finishing touches.
Styling was always at the heart of it - brides would arrive with a photo of their dress and we’d help them build the rest of the look around it so it felt truly personal - even all the Scottish bridal shops would reccomend us to their own brides as we had so many unique pieces. As the shop grew in popularity we slowly expanded - first into bridesmaids, and eventually into a larger space. From there the business kept evolving, and before long we found ourselves naturally stepping into the world of bridal gowns too.
What is your vision for Melle Cloche?
To create a bridal experience where every bride feels entirely herself - effortlessly elegant, confident, and comfortable through thoughtfully designed gowns that reflect her personal style”
Our vision is all about helping brides feel like themselves on one of the most important days of their lives. We want them to love what they’re wearing, not just because it’s beautiful, but because it fits their personality and style and feels effortless and comfortable to wear.
Describe the experience for brides who visit Melle Cloche from the moment they walk through the door.
We keep things friendly and relaxed - good tunes, a fizz or Aperol spritz (when the sun shines!) and no pressure. From the moment a bride walks in, it’s all about her: her personal style and how she wants to feel on the day. We focus a lot on design, how the dress will fit, fabrics, and practical details, helping her find a dress that feels completely like her and works in real life. We’re not an overly fussy or “fluffy” boutique - brides and their guests still feel completely special, but they tend to enjoy our low-key approach rather than gimmicks or “Say Yes to the Dress” style theatrics. No shade to other boutiques, but it wouldn’t feel authentic for us.
What do you look for when selecting gowns and designers for your boutique?
When choosing designers, we’re not chasing trends. We’re thinking about our bride. She’s confident, modern and doesn’t need layers of embellishment to feel special. She leans toward minimalism - but it's never boring and appreciates a beautiful cut, incredible fabric and thoughtful design. She wants the dress to feel effortless but still unforgettable. That’s what guides us when curating our collections.
Price and accessibility matter as well; we make sure our collection sits within a range that works for our typical bride. Responsive designers are essential, too - being able to ask for help with sizing or customisations easily gives both us and our brides confidence. We also pay attention to how collections are presented, from photography to social media, to ensure each dress translates beautifully in real life and aligns with our aesthetic.
Sustainability is becoming more and more important, too. We’re noticing that brides are thinking more consciously about where and how their dress is made. For us, we want designers who produce thoughtfully, use quality fabrics, and consider their environmental impact.
Tell us what you love about Unbridled Studio?
What we love about Unbridled Studio is the balance between strong design and effortless wearability. The pieces are modern and beautifully cut, but they never feel overworked or trying too hard. They’re the kind of dresses brides can truly relax, move and have a good time in. That simplicity, paired with great fabrics and thoughtful design, really resonates with us and our brides. It’s also lovely to support a women-owned, UK-based brand; that independent, creative spirit feels very aligned with what we value as a business.
